I have a portable generator that I would like to store in some shop/store till next winter. But I am not sure what kind of shops/stores provide such service (if at all there are some stores). Can you please suggest what kind of shops/stores provide long term storage and maintainance of generators?

Never heard of one. If you have the room long term storage is really quite simple.
Run engine until it runs out of fuel. This removes all the fuel from your system. Don't use fuel stabilizer it is only good for about 6 months.
Place in a box or cover with a heavy cloth to keep light and bugs out. Light will cause your hoses and wiring to crack and bugs and mice will build nest and make a mess.
I do this every year for all my power equipment

it seems you could go to any type of storage place to store but you would have to maintain it yourself?????
